About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Casual Food and Beverage Team Leader to join our Events team at the Australian War Memorial.

This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast paced hospitality environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences. You will work closely with the Operations team to ensure events are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

The role is primarily focused on our events operation, including conferences, dinners, cocktail functions and commemorative events. However, you may also be required to work café shifts to support business needs.

The position will commence on a casual basis, with the opportunity to progress to a permanent position as our business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead event teams during service.
• Coordinate staff to ensure smooth event execution.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain premium hospitality standards.
• Brief, support and motivate team members throughout each shift.
• Liaise with kitchen and operational teams to ensure seamless service.
• Monitor presentation, cleanliness and compliance with food safety and WHS requirements.
• Assist with event setup, service and pack down.
• Support café operations when required, maintaining the same high standards of service and leadership.
• Resolve guest enquiries and operational issues in a professional manner.

About You

You are a confident hospitality professional who leads by example and enjoys developing others. You remain calm under pressure and have excellent organisational and communication skills.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within hospitality or events.
• Strong food and beverage service knowledge.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• The ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• A positive, professional and hands on approach.
• Flexibility to work across both events and café operations when required.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Current RSA certification (essential).
