Mary Mae’s | Duty Manager
We’re looking for a hands-on Duty Manager to join the team at Mary Mae’s at Brisbane Powerhouse.
This is a high volume, events driven venue with a strong focus on live service execution, group bookings, and major seasonal events including Comedy Festival, Night Feast, weddings, and corporate functions.
This is not a passive management role you’ll be on the floor leading service, solving challenges in real time and ensuring smooth execution of both venue operations and events.
What you’ll be doing
- Running day-to-day venue operations during service
- Leading floor team during high volume trade and events
- Supporting execution of functions and group bookings on shift
- Working closely with Ops Managers and Events Sales Manager
- Handling guest issues, service flow and real-time decision making
- Supporting rostering execution, stock awareness and service readiness
- Ensuring smooth transition between event setup, service, and pack down
- Maintaining high standards under pressure across FOH operations
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in busy hospitality venues (events, bars, pubs, or restaurants)
- Confident running a floor under pressure
- Natural leader who leads from the front
- Calm, practical problem solver
- Comfortable in fast-paced, high-volume environments
- Good communication and team coordination skills
- No ego just gets the job done
Bonus (not essential)
- Experience with events or function execution
- Cocktail/bar knowledge
- Stock, POS, or basic reporting understanding
- Previous Duty Manager / Supervisor experience

Important
This role is focused on execution, not office management. You will be expected to be present on the floor, lead service, and actively contribute during events and operation.
