Assistant Catering Manager | Tertiary Venue

We are currently seeking an Assistant Catering Manager to support catering operations at one of Melbourne’s largest residential universities, located in Bundoora in Melbourne’s north.

Reporting to the Hospitality Manager, this role is ideal for an up-and-coming leader who will assist in managing the bistro and events spaces while ensuring an exceptional experience for residential guests. The college hosts a wide range of events, from intimate business lunches for two to cocktail functions for up to 500 guests, as well as ongoing catering for on-site students.

Shifts will predominantly be Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with flexibility required to support events. Occasional weekend work will also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing a range of administrative duties, including invoice processing, client account creation, payroll, and filing
  • Using Canva to create promotional materials for events
  • Assisting with the promotion and sale of events (experience in this area is advantageous)
  • Supporting day-to-day operations across the bistro, residential dining, and events
  • Working closely with the team to ensure all legislative compliance and standards are met, minimising risk and maximising efficiency
  • Driving revenue and identifying new business opportunities
  • Delivering innovation across residential, function, conferencing, and retail food offerings

About You

Ideally, you will demonstrate the following; however, we encourage candidates with a strong attitude and passion for hospitality to apply:

  • Experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality or food service industry
  • Outstanding client service skills, supported by excellent communication abilities
